Open fire cooking has long tradition in Hungary. Not the barbecue but cooking in wooden heated kettle, bigger or larger, depending the number of guests.
The most populat local dishes: goulash soup, fish soup, stew, stew with sour cabage are the most common food cooked in a kettle. Barbecue is also very popular, we grill chicken, pork, steak, cheese, vegetable on charcoal, or there is a special open fire pot which is used for grilling or frying meat, as you can see on the bottom picture.
Hungarian families and friends come together regularly from spring to autumn, where cooking and eating is always the central activity. Do no surprize if you are offered with huge quantity of meal in Hungary, and try to eat as much as you can, not to hurt the host.
